Explanation and Meaning of Patterns and Colors

This kimono is painted with dancing white and yellow chrysanthemums on a ground of yamabuki, orange, and yingko (bush warbler).

The chrysanthemum flower, which can be displayed alive long after it has been cut, is a symbol of longevity, purifying evil spirits, and a pattern of good fortune.

In ancient times, the chrysanthemum pattern was favored by the emperors of the Kamakura period (1185-1333), and it is still considered the most prestigious flower and emblem of the Japanese imperial family.

Characteristics of the fabric

If you look closely at the bokashi-dyed kimono fabric, you will see the same pattern as the chrysanthemum drawn in the dyeing process.

This is a unique and special order that is not seen in modern times, and was probably created by weaving and dyeing the kimono at the same time.

Decoration Tips

Canvas can be displayed on a table, wall, etc. Hanging on a wall requires hooks, tacks, or nails. It can also be displayed on an easel. Ideal for a room makeover, housewarming gift, gift or souvenir for a loved one.
